All the more reason for thoroughly airing the matter in an open court. Justice must be SEEN to be done. That is the principle that seems to be missing here.

I see no rush to deny the accusations of draconian action by a police state - only some half-hearted attempts to justify them.

Also the lack of a parliamentary response that continues over the period of a change of philosophical government (supposed shift to the right), suggests a cross-party parliamentary conspiracy ... and you folks still living in the UK should be VERY concerned about that!

This issue seems to be the tip of a very big iceberg.

A lady called Elizabeth Jackson sent you a farrago of allegations which may or may not be true. You posted it on this site completely indifferent to the fact that it clearly identified the child at the heart of these proceedings, and the father she lives with, together with an unsubstantiated claim about that father which could damage both their lives if it becomes public.

This despite all your protestations that this is just what you and Booker would never do if the courts were open. You know its wrong but you just can't resist can you...?

Oh, and on the facts that you yourself put forward the lady in question seems to have been arrested on a totally unrelated criminal matter. Nothing to do with consulting her MP AT ALL.

This mother seems to have seen the dangers of playing into the hands of publicity hounds albeit somewhat belatedly and had indeed asked Hemming to shut up. Perhaps you should respect her wishes too.

What is really frightening in this case is that the local authority seems to be fully confident that it is untouchable by anyone in the UK. But it is not just the system of social workers - some of these authorities run their areas as if they were their own personal fiefdoms. There is no doubt in my mind that the entire local government system needs complete dismantling and rebuilding from the bottom up using new material.

Regrettably in a Parliamentary democracy, it is Parliament who determines what and what isn't brought up.

In the event a Member of Parliament brings forth an inappropriate subject or discloses information, then the Parliaments officials (such as the Speakers office) can investigate, discipline and if necessary remove parliamentary privilege.

In a Parliamentary democracy, Parliament is supreme, with the somewhat untried (recently) exception of The Queen being able to intervene. Not some two-bit solicitors office down the high street.

According to the Telegraph reporter who did actually go there, the case was closed re care proceedings but opened very briefly for the criminal part threatening the mother with prison for breaking secrecy by talking to her MP and to the head of Cafcass, who she believes betrayed her by reporting her.
The Telegraph could only report the criminal part ,which they did ,but a lady called Elizabeth Watson sent the whole story to me and a mass of other people,politicians etc identifying Vicky Haigh as the pregnant woman who was (to quote the Sunday Telegraph)"dragged out of her hospital bed by police and thrown into a dirty cell" for the offence of having consulted her MP about her plight.
Obviously the lawyers want to hush it up but the lady in question already in trouble for trying to get outside help, never said SHE did?did she?

The Telegraph should look closely at what is happening on this thread. A vulnerable child has been identified on this thread and the most serious allegations made about her father with whom it appears she lives, in a small community where she will be known and recognised.

The fact that this information has been published elsewhere on the net is not an excuse to spread it further. This is totally irresponsible.

Apparently this case has been open for reporting. There was presumably nothing to stop Booker going along to see for himself and producing a reasoned article about the facts - taking care not to identify the parties.

But, that's a bit like hard work and it wouldn't necessarily produce a screaming headline or two. Much better to rely on heavily partial accounts from the likes of Mr Hemming.

Carteverychildoftomandualand - you haven't dealt with the social worker holding herself out to be a solicitor or the policeman brother of VH's husband who locked her up and then went off shift.

The 'professionals' in this case are extremely corrupt and that is why secrecy should not be allowed - because it puts children in danger.

Meanwhile, Romany is living with a dangerous man and you don't give a fig. All you're interested in is your ego and securing work for your big fat pay.

the set up consisted of him keeping in contact with the maternal family while under COURT ORDERS NOT TOO and upon meeting a 14 year old girl of African origine who was 6foot tall he proceeded to flirt with her he was 27 years old,

the local authority spent 1000's of tax payers money assessing him the 5 experts reports cost nearly 30,000 each, the foster carers get 1000's each month, this south coast town went to London and spents 1000's upon 1000's on a top barrister,

18 months before hand when we tried to tell the Judge we had proof he was contacting us against ALL THE ORDERS the HIGH COURT JUDGE said we were just trying to ruin his chances of getting the children

YES AND WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN in care i've seen them in contact come covered in bruises, cross'eyed, pissing and shitting themselves, screaming their hearts out for their mother

Children's Services is a dysfunctional and dangerous institution. It should be dismantled and something far more intelligent, practical, and worthy of respect for the child put in its place. As an institution it's a medieval disgrace in this the 21st century. Not too bright and often very young social workers have powers far greater than the police and they often get very carried away with these powers. Mistakes are made and the child care team closes ranks. It is then nigh impossible to unravel the mess they have created.

FACT loving families are threatened with PRISON

In my case the social worker decided to give my grandchildren to the father of the boy (he is no blood relation to my grand-daughter) they had evidence he had been convicted in another European country of SEX OFFENCES AGAINST CHILDREN it was me who had to go and get the proper case number and bring back to England evidence that under NO ACCOUNT would this man be allowed to look after children, this made NO DIFFERENCE to TWO HIGH COURT JUDGES and the CORRUPT LOCAL AUTHORITY, the GREEDY BARRISTERS pulled every stunt possible to help the local authority, the man was breaking all the rules and still contacting my daughter and saying if she was nice to him he would let her see the children, we could say nothing we had already been accused of LYING when we tried to say in court this was going on, we had to set the man up to show he would re-offend with minors WHICH HE DID, so its adoption to the foster carers, he of course will still get contact, WHILE WE GET ORDERS? INJUNCTIONS? THREATS OF PRISON,

ITS CLEAR THEY ONLY PICK ON LOVING FAMILIES WHERE GOING TO PRISON WOULD BE AN ORDEAL

It has no ring of truth whatsoever to me - it sounds demented. However, if it is true how can you possibly justify identifying the parties involved - including the child who may be a victim of abuse and the father who alternatively may be a victim of malevolent lies.

I have rarely seen a case which shows so clearly the dangers of letting the press get involved in these cases. As for the Telegraph - are all their lawyers asleep?

I think you've hit the nail on the head here, Ian
She dopes horses, therefore she's not fit to look after children.
The trouble with social workers is that they appear, as a general rule for the breed, not to have very large brains. The result is they can only keep a very limited number of very simple concepts in their minds at any one time.
They are given a very basic template of what makes for an "acceptable" parenting unit (what we would call a "mother" or a "family") and if you deviate from that by more than a set amount you are classed as unfit.
Simples.
And all too often totally wrong.
I still remember an "anti-"Christmas card from many years ago showing a determined looking woman - NHS glasses - pudding bowl haircut - dowdily dressed (of course) - carrying off the new-born Christ towards a van marked 'Jerusalem Social Services'.
Too near the mark to be funny, I reckon.

Why does the Telegraph continue to run this kind of tripe? John Hemming has been asked by the woman's own solicitors not to publicise her case but refuses to accept it, because he has decided that he knows best. Well, many would not agree.

The case in question is apparently being heard in open court - so the usual arguments about secrecy don't apply - all that he, Booker et al are restrained from doing, seemingly, is give away the names in the case.

Just as well, because following a disclosure on this thread I have found a website which purports to support this woman by making allegations about her ex partner which, if not true, are just scurrilous. From other details given away I presume that they are at the very least unproved.

The website urges supporters to use publicity to put pressure on the courts - precisely what the privacy rules try to prevent.

Supporting one side against the other - not the State but another parent, isn't responsible journalism or standing up for parliament's rights, it's conceited, foolish meddling.

One of the most frequent comments we have in defence of the "SS" is "we only hear one side of the story".But why is that? The ss are subject to the same legal rules as the rest of us and could well reply without giving names if they wished to,but instead they leave a complete basket case like Cartimandua to speak for them !No wonder their image emerges somewhat tarnished !
All this talk of harm to the child is exposed as sheer hypocrisy when the ss advertise these children for adoption in tabloid newspapers with photographs and no regard to privacy at all ! It's only the ss and their so called experts who are protected by the secrecy and who would be damaged if the truth got out !

Read the post. The child is in danger, "evidence exists" to show that she has been abused by her father since she was 3 years old. She is clearly not being protected by your colleagues and in fact, if the post is true, the danger to the child is persisting with no protection from those paid to give it to her.

One of the social workers is passing herself off as a solicitor. The child's 'protectors' are corrupt.

The child needs publicity for protection's sake. It is you who does not care about the child and comes here to inflate your ego.

And I thought you were making a good recovery.

Perhaps a judge involved in such cases could be persuaded to write an article for the DT defending the practice of courts in child protection? Mr Booker's statements are disturbing but I should like to hear the other side of the argument if a defensible one exists.
